New Orleans is planning a major security camera installation in the city that is being billed as the largest ever in the U.S.

The city has long relied on private companies for surveillance, but it recently announced a major expansion of its surveillance capabilities.

The new cameras, which are being installed in four locations, are the city’s first in the country to have a permanent system of video surveillance, the New Orleans Police Department said in a statement.

The installation is part of a larger effort to make the city a safer place, said police Superintendent Eric Greco.

The cameras are being used to capture crime scenes and police activity, the police department said.

The installation will also record videos of people and other events that happen in the public spaces in the neighborhoods around the installation, the statement said.

The new cameras will be deployed on a trial basis, Greco said.
